• Myogi Sakura Village; Around 5,000 cherry trees grow at the foothills of Mt. Myogi. From mid-April to mid-May, these delicate flowers contrast with the craggy peaks above. Sakura no Sato has a relatively long flowering season because its 45 or so cherry tree varieties flower at different times. Picnic under the trees and enjoy the rocky mountainside beyond.
• Wisteria Festival; Wisteria flower (Fuji in Japanese) is one of the most beloved spring flowers in Japan. The Great Wisteria Festival at Ashikaga Flower Park has been chosen as one of the top 10 international dream destinations by CNN in 2014, thus the wisteria flower has become a top tourist attraction in spring in Japan.
• Ushiku Daibutsu; The tallest standing Buddha statue in Japan is hiding more than a few secrets. You won’t be able to feel the power of the Ushiku Buddha through photos alone, so take a trip out and experience it for yourself. It is really is an impressive sight, not to mention the third tallest statue in the world. Above all, it is an immersive experience where you can even go inside this multi-story Amida Buddha.

• You can do one of the small hike trails (at your own risk) at Mt. Myogi if you like after seeing the 5,000 sakura trees.
• Bring picnic lunch and drinks. Restaurants and shops can be crowded this time of the year.
