This Trip Features;

  • SNOW CORRIDOR: is a 500m wall of snow created by clearing snow from the road near Murodo. The wall is sometimes higher than 20m and is a popular tourist spot where visitors can walk along and enjoy the snowy white world. Seeing the wall of snow close up and personal is an unbelievably powerful experience. You've got to come here and experience to fully understand the unique sensations felt on this walk.
  • MIKURIGAIKE: is a volcanic lake located at an altitude of 2,405m with its surroundings covered in snow until June. Its beautiful deep blue water reflects Mt. Tateyama making it one of the magnificent sights to see. Covering 30,000 square metres and with a circumference of 631m, this is the largest lake in Murodo.
  • KUROBE DAM: is Japan's largest arch dam built and completed in 1963. With a height of 186m, it remains the tallest dam in Japan. An observation deck provides a grand view of the great nature of the Northern Alps.
  • SHOSENKYO GORGE: is one of Japan's most beautiful gorges. You can take the ropeway up to this gorge and enjoy a 360° spectacular panorama view of the surrrounding mountain scenery including of Mt. Fuji with its characteristic snow capped peak.
  • SENGATAKI WATERFALL: is one of the most photogenic and voted as one of the 100 best waterfalls in Japan. The fault of earth crust created this magnificent 31m high waterfall.
  • HANAMI WALK: a paved walking trail for about 4 kilometers along the gorge from Sengataki Waterfall to Nagatoro Bridge offering gorgeous view of Shosenkyo gorge, lots of cherry blossom trees, beautiful scenery of the river and the narrow valley. Many interestingly shaped rocks which resemble and are named after animals or items can be seen along this walk.

Trip Itinerary

Saturday (Apr 21)

  • Meet in Shinjuku at 7:15am
  • Get on the bus
  • Catch up on your sleep or chat with other members
  • Short stop for breakfast on the way
  • Arrive at Shosenkyo ropeway around 10:15am
  • Get on the ropeway and enjoy great views of Mt. Fuji and 360° panorama from the top (Optional)
  • Easy walk through the gorge past the majestic waterfalls and amazing rock formations while looking at gorgeous cherry blossoms
  • Picnic lunch by the river (Bring you own)
  • Get on the bus from Nagatoro Bridge at 2:45pm
  • Arrive at the hotel around 5:30pm
  • Check-in at the hotel
  • Relax in the onsen/bath
  • Dinner at 6:30pm
  • Group party

Sunday (Apr 22)

  • Have breakfast at 7am
  • Check-out of the hotel
  • Get on the bus at 7:45am
  • Arrive at Ogizawa bus parking around 8:30am
  • Explore Kurobe Tateyama Alpine Route (via series of trolley bus, cable car and ropeway) from 9am until 4:20pm
  • Get on the bus at 4:30pm
  • Short stop for food/snacks on the way
  • Arrive back in Shinjuku around 8:30pm

Important Notes

  • Itinerary may vary due to the weather, traffic conditions, and other unavoidable circumstances.
  • You MUST have your own insurance (health, social, company, etc.) to be able join.
  • Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route still has winter weather during this time of the year so please dress appropriately (winter jacket/pants, fleece/thermals, hat, gloves and winter boots).
  • Reasonable fitness required.
  • You can leave other belongings in our private bus during the Shosenkyo and Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route walks. All you need is a small backpack, picnic lunch, snacks, drinks, camera, smartphone and cash.
  • Minimum of 3 and maximum of 4 persons for shared rooms.
  • Private room for couples available at extra cost.
  • We will try to accommodate all dietary requirements. However, we are unable to guarantee the hotel/lodge can cater for every meal
