A brief description of what will happen on the day:
• Meet outside Tobu-Nikko (not Nikko) station at 9:25am • Get on the van • Drive up to the base of Unryu Keikoku Canyon (30mins) • Safety briefing • Get the gear on • Start snow trekking at 10:15am • Walk along the frozen canyon and take some photos of the gorgeous scenery • Picnic lunch around 1pm (bring your own) • Trek (or sled) back down to the van • Finish snow trekking around 3pm • Drive back to Tobu-Nikko station (or we can drop you off at Toshogu shrine if you want to do some sightseeing)

Take note of the following:
• Itinerary may vary due to the weather, road condition, and other unavoidable circumstances.
• Experience not necessary but reasonable fitness required.
• Unryu Keikoku is a canyon/river frozen in mid-winter located in an isolated area in Nikko, famous for its gorgeous and naturally formed ice-sculptures and it attracts hundreds of outdoor enthusiasts every year.
• We'll walk along the frozen canyon, take some photos of the gorgeous scenery along the way like the 100m high ice-wall, 80m frozen waterfall, 10m ice-column and more.
• You can also see ice-climbers scaling a 20m frozen waterfall, its really COOL.
• This trip is time sensitive due to safety reasons so please understand that the trip will proceed on time with or without you.
• Meeting spot is at Tobu-Nikko station not JR Nikko station.
• If you like to do some sightseeing in and around Nikko area, we can drop you off at Toshogu shrine on our way back to Tobu-Nikko station.
• Rental of waterproof hiking boots are available but reservation required.
• Final details will be sent to the participants by email two (2) days before the event.
