Trip Itinerary

Saturday (Dec 7)

  • Meet in Shinjuku at 7:15am
  • Get on the bus
  • Catch up on your sleep and/or chat with other members and get excited
  • Short stop for breakfast on the way
  • Arrive at Matsumoto Castle around 10:30am
  • Walk around and explore the beautiful Matsumoto Castle
  • Get on the bus at 11:45am
  • Have lunch on the way
  • Arrive at Zenkoji Temple around 1:30pm
  • Walk around and explore the Main Hall and Sanmon Gate of Zenkoji Temple
  • Get on the bus at 3:30pm
  • Arrive at Shiga Kogen around 4:45pm
  • Check-in at the hotel
  • Relax in the hotel's big hot bath
  • Enjoy a drink (or two) at the hotel's bar
  • Dinner at 6pm
  • Group party

Sunday (Dec 8)

  • Breakfast at 7:30am
  • Get the gear on
  • Ski/snowboarding (8:30am-3pm) and/or join the the optional Snow Monkeys Trip (1pm-4:30)
  • Relax in the hotel's big hot bath
  • Change clothes/get ready
  • Get on the bus at 4pm
  • Short stops for food/snacks on the way
  • Arrive back in Shinjuku around 8:45pm

Important notes

  • Itinerary may vary due to the weather, traffic conditions, and other unavoidable circumstances.
  • Ski/snowboarding off-piste is strictly prohibited.
  • You MUST have your own insurance (health, social, company, etc.) to be able join.
  • Rooms will be allocated to your preference.
  • Minimum of 4 and maximum of 5 persons per room.
  • Male/Female only rooms are available.
  • Group of (4 or 5) friends can have their own room.
  • Private room for 2 persons available for an extra fee on a first-come/first-served basis (limited rooms).
  • Matsumoto Castle, Zenkoji Temple and Jigokudani Monkey Park are some of the must see and visit places in Japan (not just Nagano).
  • Waterproof (Gortex) hiking/trekking shoes are recommended for this trip.
  • Please bring enough layers. It is a lot colder in the mountains than in the city.
  • Food and plastic bags are not allowed in the Monkey Park
  • Free ski/snowboarding lesson is on Sunday (Dec 8) from 9:30am until 12pm.
  • You don't need a lift pass to join our free ski/snowboarding lessons. However, if you're a fast learner and would want to ride the chairlifts, you can buy a "ride ticket" which costs around 300-350yen per ride. On average, beginners only take the chairlifts 4-5 times the entire weekend. Some beginners, not at all!
  • We will try to accommodate all dietary requirements. However, we are unable to guarantee the hotel/lodge can cater for every meal.
  • Soap, shampoo and rinse are provided in the bath (ofuro).
  • You must check out of your room before 10am on Sunday (Dec 8), and put your belongings in the luggage room.
  • Final details will be sent to the participants by email two days before the event.
